I am the troop leader for my daughter’s girl scout troop. As cookie selling season draws near, our troop decided to put together a video to help our fellow sister scouts in running a successful cookie booth. They did a fantastic job and I’m really proud of them. Figured I’d share (if you’ve got three minutes).
"Walt wanted the birds (of the Tiki Room) to appear as hosts and performers in a dinner show that would play inside a sit-down restaurant in Adventureland.
An Internal WED pamphlet described the Enchanted Tiki Room concept (during the design phase of the show): ‘Reservations will be spaced at one-hour intervals, and guests will be advised to arrive fifteen minutes prior to their dining time.’ Once the guests had completed their main course, the lights would dim and the birds would come to life one by one.
'I want these birds to be so real you can see them breathe,' Walt commanded to Harriet Burns, who had been given the task of covering the mechanisms with feathers.”

Grumpy Cat Shows Her Disney Side [x]
I hate Grumpy Cat as a meme but as a cat she is wonderful and I love her I don’t give a fuck.
The fact that she doesn’t freak out when people hold her or freak out from being next to Grumpy says a lot about how she isn’t the way she’d portrayed. She actually seems like a cat that I’d and want as a pet, and I never say that.
"The original concept for the show actually dates back to another time … Back in the mid-1960s, the Imagineers were hard at work fleshing out Walt’s concept for ‘Mineral King’, a spectacular ski resort and outdoor recreation complex he planned to build in the mountains of California"
"Walt had a few concerns about the project, though … One of those concerns was the fear that - even though his guests would have a wonderful time skiiing and playing all day - once nightfall came they would take themselves (and their money) into town in search of some fun …"
"Walt commissioned Marc Davis to come up with some ideas for shows that would keep those folks right there at Mineral King. ‘Walt thought maybe we should have a show that had something to do with bears,’ Marc recalled, ‘Lots and lots of bears."
-From ‘The Nickel Tour’
…twice a year, my parents would tell me while I was getting ready for school, “Eh, let’s go to Disneyland instead.”
And I’d be all like:
Look it’s my favorite ghost Pickwick! Ironically, he’s afraid of heights.
